Andre Sumera - A man with a passion.

In 1961 Andre Sumera started his career as a
barber trainee at a
Cosmetology school in Italy.
Three years later he graduated and had discovered a flair for barbering and hairstyling.
By 1970 he had worked
in 5 countries and his
passion and creativity
were becoming well known throughout Europe.

In 1970, whilst working in England, Andre was approached by a Canadian Businessman who begged him to move to Edmonton and work his salon.  In May of that year Andre had his first taste of an Albertan winter!

Since landing in Canada Andre has taught at the Alberta Campus College and has owned and operated many salons including M'Lords Hair based in the Bay and Curl and Dye in the Harbour Centre, (both in downtown Vancouver) and has continued to enhance his flair and passion for this industry.

In 1989 Andre and his wife decided it was time for him to pass on his passion and skills to a new generation of Cosmetologists and Visage International School of Hair was born.

Keeping up to date through professional development activities and shows Andre has built a strong knowledge of modern hairstyling techniques.  Until recently he was a Chief Examiner for the provincial Hairdressing and Barbering Associations, in 1975 he was appointed as the Head Trainer for Team Canada (for competitions around the world)  and today can often be seen performing at top competitions or judging the participants.
