BARBER Hairstylist – basic course content

PROGRAM DURATION

1200 hours (to be completed in 7.5 months)

comprised of 800 hours of practical experience and 400 hours of theoretical instruction.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be competent in the following areas:

• Create modern haircuts and styling for men
• Shaving methology/massage
• Hawning and strapping of the razor
• Advanced knowledge of colour highlighting and perms
• Advanced knowledge of chemical treatments
• Treatment of hair and scalp
• Product knowledge
• Client relations
• Salon/business management and personal/shop hygiene

Grading System: passing grade is overall mark of 80%

E – Excellent [95-100%] G – Good [85-94%] S – Satisfactory [80-84%] NI – Needs Improvement [79%] Pass = 80% or better Fail = 79% or less
